This innovative Water Allocation Plan is the culmination of extensive community consultation, planning and research. It establishes a firm framework to address concerns over decreasing water pressure in the Great Artesian Basin. It will build confidence in the use of groundwater in the Far North region by clarifying rights and responsibilities of users of the Great Artesian Basin in South Australia. It aims to provide responsible, fair and equitable water allocations for users of groundwater in the Far North Prescribed Wells Area, while maintaining the health of our natural resources and ecosystems.
