The SAAL NRM Board is developing its new comprehensive NRM Plan to support the integration and coordination of NRM activities in the Region. It will be a ‘Plan for the Region’. The development of a new Plan will provide the Board with the information it needs to make the best NRM decisions for people living and working in the Arid Lands.

Comprehensive NRM Plan Timelines
Late 2006 – First stage of the Plan’s development with the completion of the Concept Statement.
Early 2007 and ongoing – Guidelines for the development of the Plan are being finalised along with a number of other activities, which will support the Plan’s development and implementation. Review of all the relevant
literature is ongoing.
Mid to late 2007 – Workshops, meetings and discussions supporting the development of the Plan will be scheduled.
Early 2008 – Final draft of the new Plan scheduled for completion. The final draft will be forwarded to the Minister for approval and then be released for a two-month public consultation period.
Mid 2008 – Comments received from the public consultation period will be forwarded to the Minister for final adoption of the Plan. Development of the Investment Strategy component of the Business Plan for funding for the 2009–2010 financial year will follow.
Late 2008 – Final comprehensive NRM Plan completed.
