There Board has formed 4 advisory committees. They are:
- Biodiversity Advisory Committee
- Pastoral Advisory Committee
- Pest Advisory Committee
- Water Advisory Committee
Advisory committees are formed by NRM Boards to provide specialist technical advice on a range of regionally specific issues related to management of water resources, native vegetation, threatened species, weeds and feral pests. In some cases advisory committee members will be experts in their field and may also include community members with relevant knowledge and skills. Committees may focus on particular issues concerning the region (ie feral animals, GAB aquifer drawdown, and weed management) or may deal with a range of integrated issues. The committees may function by meeting on an on-going or ad hoc basis to deal with certain issues or events.
The roles and responsibilities of the regional advisory committees may include:
- providing advice to the SAAL NRM Board in response to a specific issue that requires further clarification or management consistent within the terms of reference of the relevant advisory committee.
- consulting as appropriate with relevant stakeholders (SAAL NRM Board Staff, District Groups) in the region to specific issues highlighted by SAAL Board staff and District groups, to ensure that advice to SAAL NRM Board is based upon accurate and relevant information.
