The SAAL NRM Board is one of eight NRM Boards in South Australia.
Due to the implementation of the South Australian Natural Resource Management Act, 2004 there has been a number of changes to the boundary for the Arid Lands region. These changes are most noticeable in two areas. The lower south eastern country around Burra is now in the Murray Darling Basin region. The Flinders Ranges Council District of Hawker that was in the North Flinders Soil Board and the coastal area of the Upper Spencer Gulf are now part of the Northern and Yorke region. Discussions on how to best transition services to these areas and to ensure that NRM delivery continues in the most efficient manner are ongoing.
- SA Murray Darling Basin Region
The lower south eastern country around Burra is now encompassed in the Murray Darling Basin region. In 2004/2005, Burra was part of the Rangelands Action Project (SAAL NRM Board grant). Funding was transferred to the Murray Darling Basin to support the activities occurring around the Burra area. The Murray Darling Basin has encompassed these activities and funds into its own Pest Management Program.
- Northern and Yorke Region
There were a number of activities previously funded through the Arid Lands NRM Board that
occurred within the Northern and Yorke Region. The Rangelands Action Project supported on-ground works in the Hawker area, principally for pest animal management. The Rangelands Action Project is no
longer being supported and will be replaced by more strategically targeted activities carried out by the Northern and Yorke NRM Board.
- Alinytjara Wilurara Region
There are several cross boundary projects being cooperatively worked on between the SA Arid Lands NRM Board and the Alinytjara Wilurara NRM Board.
